How to WRITE ON a font
Hello,
I want to make a specific font look as though it is being written on. I understand you need to either use the bezier tool or the paint brush to outline or trace the phrase or letter and then animate using the write on behavior but I can never get it to look exactly like the font I am using. It is either jagged or uneven. I can’t get it perfect. How to do you make it so it matches the font exactly?

You use the paint stroke as an image mask to reveal the font.

I’m a little confused. Let me explain to you what I have done. I have one group named TEXT which contains my word I want to reveal. The other group is labeled “PAINT” which contains the stroke that I traced the font with. I selected the TEXT group and added an image mask. For the mask source, I dragged over the paint stroke. Now when I play the timeline the font is not revealed, it is just revealing the jagged paint stroke, not the font.
Where did I go wrong?

Make sure the paint stroke image layer is turned off. And you’ll probably have to invert the mask so it paints on instead of off.

OK. I think my problem was that I needed to increase the width of my brush stroke. Now in order to make it perfect I need to just adjust the control points correct?

Yes, adjust the control points along the path you want to write on. Remove any extraneous control points as the paint tool tends to lay down too many. Fewer control points will create a smoother effect.

Also, if you make the Brush Types, Airbrush. You can adjust its width in certain areas using the Stroke tab. Mess with the Width Over Stroke option. Just add more control points and move them around to see what I mean if you haven’t done it before.
PS, you may want to set the Spacing to 1%, if you want the sharper look.
