How to work on same project from 2 different locations…

dropbox can deal with this….

As I suppose the adobe cloud storage could….

So there’s no way to do this with proxies then? Have to proxies on dropbox or creative cloud..do the edit with the proxies on whichever location..and when its done.. connect it to the real files that are on my desktop (on a local folder, not in the cloud…?)

Hi….

I suppose you could….

you just need to specify that the proxy directory is separate from your full res directory…. and the full res directory is outside of any directory being synced by Dropbox or Adobe CC…

I’m not using the proxy workflow yet….so I can’t give you step by step….

and I don’t know what happens with Proxies when paths change from system to system….

it might be easiest (although a little bit cluttery) that you PPro Project and proxy media actually reside in the SAME directory…

that way PPro should autodetect the files even when the paths change when moving back and forth from machine to machine…

but it would seem some testing would be in order to develop a bulletproof workflow…

I have had occasion to work on files both here and on the road.

One thing I did is to set up the data drives on both machines so all the paths are the same. (I have a nice laptop with two physical drives for that very reason.) Using an external purely as a “bucket” I can preserve paths and edit either here or…Arizona, California, Missouri, the Denver airport – you get the picture.

Once your session at home is done, save it all back to the external to preserve the project and update the directory at work.

I don’t think a Team Viewer approach would be very pleasant, though it would work in a pinch. I even know a guy who did that using the old “remote desktop” in the Windows XP days.

That way everything will track nicely.

I appreciate your assistance to our community! And I don’t mean to pick your brain too much, but I think you really have the answer to my question here.

I am trying to mimic your workflow as it seems to be the most straightforward from what I’ve gathered. However, I don’t quite understand how to set up the data drives on both machines so all the paths are the same.

Here is my situation:

I have a drive at home, and a drive (different brand) at work. I set up the film’s folders in exactly the same way on each drive. The drives aren’t exact copies of each other (they have different projects on each drive, but both have the film).

So far, every time I switch back and forth, I have to go through the tedious work of relinking, and it takes a while.

I am wondering what I’ve done wrong, as I thought I’d made the same path on both drives. I launch the Premiere project from my laptop’s local drive.

The whole goal is to either skip the relink process altogether or streamline it so to make it very quick.

Lastly, I may be able to use a different laptop at work, with maybe a different MacOS. Would this change anything?

Any advice sincerely appreciated!!
