  • how to view and modify the 2 separate audio tracks i recorded on tape

I’m forced to use fcpx because my old computer with fcp 6 is being repaired. I imported from mini-dv tape shot on a Panasonoc dvx100a on which one audio channel had sound from the on-camera mike and the other channel had sound from a wireless mike. On the timeline I get one audio track which is a mixture of bothchannels. I want to use the wireless sound primarily but I can’t see how to separate this audio track into the two separate channels. I go to the inspector and I under channel configuration it says “unsupported clip” and gives me no options. The sound is also out of sync and I don’t see how to separate the sound from the video and shift it to get sync. Please help ASAP; I need to get this done soon!

Go to the inspector. In the audio panel down at the bottom is configuration. Switch it to dual mono and uncheck the track you don’t want.

    All the best,

In timeline, select clip and hit control-s.

Are things out if sync on tape?

    This is one way round:

You’re need to break them apart to fix the sync which you do by shift ctrl S.

To change the levels of the different channels, ctrl click on the clip to bring up the menu then select open in timeline. To go back to normal click on the left hand arrow above the timeline search bar (back in timeline history).

Its the only way I’ve found so far – I’m sure there are other ways.
