How to use footage as emitter in piAE?
When I apply the effect to a chroma keyed video, it only shows the particles inside the image. How to make it fill in and around the object as seen in the star trek transport exemple?

You want the “area emitter masks” option. This creates particles based on the alpha channel, but the particles can go anywhere after being created. Check the docs.
It sounds like you’ll need to put the particles on the top layer too.
