  • How to use 16×9 Sequence?

Posted by Milton Hockman on March 17, 2008 at 2:00 pm

So i imported footage from AE that was exported usinng 720×480 Widescreen settings.

I make my comp in FCP with the same settings.

I import the AE file. and put in the timeline and it is squished to 4×3.

If i change the timeline settings to 4×3, put the footage into it and then change the settings to 16×9 it stretches it out perfect.

What is the deal with that? I don’t want to have to manually do that process or go into the clips settings to change the aspect ratio from -33 to 0.

is there a better work around?

Open a project just as you did. Import your clip into the browser. Now, examine that clip in the browser and you will undoubtedly see that anamorphic is not checked, so check it manually. Next, open the Sequence settings and check the anamorphic box there too. Now, put the clip on the timeline and notice that it displays properly.

WHERE DO I CHECK THE BOX FOR THE CLIP? I KNOW WHERE TEH SEQUENCE SETTING IS BUT NOT FOR THE CLIP ITSELF.

Select the clip in the browser and move to the right, eventually you will see that column.
