    Hello,

I have created a rectangular solid. I would like to twist (turn) only the two points on the left, so it results in a twisted plane. I have found the Bezier Warp. But it seems a rather complicated approach to create a simple 180

Sorry, but AE cannot twist anything in 3D space. There is a plugin for that, called Forge Freeform, but it might not have been updated in quite a while.

The alternative is to use a 3D app.

    Hello,

    What a shame…

I guess I’ll try and simulate it with a Twist and some manual lighting…

And thanks for the tip with the plug in – I’ll look into that.

    Best,

    /Harald

Ok, warning, this is on of those “it-might-work-if-you-don’t-look-too-close” things.

It’s not real 3D, but CC Ball Action can give you the twist you want. Maybe the solid won’t look the way you want, but maybe it will, if you like a solid made of planks (creases) or made of cottage cheese like foam, you’re in luck.

To your solid add Effect>Simulation>Ball Action. Make the following changes:

    Grid Spacing: 0
Ball Size: 200 + unless you want gaps when you twist
    Rotation Axis: X Axis
    Rotation: 0
    Twist Axis: X Axis
    Twist Angle: 180

Now if you don’t like the planks, but want the cottage cheese foam twisted solid, set Scatter to 1.
