  • How to turn a looped shape in After Effects into a line

    Hi,

I use mapping software which will generate country outlines as a circular looped shape. I need to be able to delete a large portion of the vertices to make it into a single line for part of countries border. When deleting the vertices I cant make them stop looping to the other end of the shape layer. Does anyone know how to “cut” this circle to turn it into just an end to end line?

    Thanks

Yes! You need to switch your shape path from Closed to Open.

Select the two connected points that you wish to separate, then right-click (or go to the Layer menu), select Mask and Shape Path, and uncheck “Closed.”
