  • how to transfer files from Sony EX1 to Final Cut Pro

I shot with the Sony XDCAM EX1 and now i’m trying to transfer the files from the SxS cards to Final Cut Pro.
I already downloaded the XDCAM Transfer program. But when I open the Log and Transfer in FCP, it doesn’t recognize the clips. When I click in “add”, I can visualize the SxS cards, but the program doesn’t recognize the files. The only way I could transfer the files from the camera to FCP was: file – import – from EX1. Then, all the clips opened in the XDCAM Transfer and I imported them to the FCP project. But doing that way, I only have the files in the FCP project. I can’t find them in any folder or hard disk in my computer.
How can I import the files to FCP and also save them in my computer?
Why the FCP log and transfer is not working?
    Thanks,
    Luciana

Don’t bother attempting to do it inside of FCP. Copy the BPAV folders to your hard drive using Sony Clip Browser. Then use XDCAM Transfer to re-wrap the clips to Quicktime, which is what FCP needs. Then bring the files into FCP. I believe the newest version of Clip Browser includes XDCAM Transfer as well.

The format that output by Sony Ex1 may can not transfer to Final Cut Pro, you should do some conversion before you transfer to FCP.I am using Video Converter For Mac and the output effect is very good , you can have a try.
