  • How to swap a set of MXF files for a set of quicktime?

Maybe the whole question is in the subject?
I have edited a few projects using MXF files direct from the camera, it worked but on my computer, was sluggish and difficult. AFter some tiesting, I discovered that converting stuff to quicktime prores worked a treat.
Some project have become worse over time, and multiple crashes.
now After my discovery, Id like to try to replace ALL the footage in the project with a newly encoded set of quicktimes…

I can right click on a single clip and select Replace footage, choose the quicktime version, but if I select the whole bin, or multiple files, the option isnt there.

All the files have exactly the same name apart from the extensions. So A010C341_1802060T_CANON.MXF has become A010C341_1802060T_CANON.mov

    How can I achieve this?

I had to trick files into switching a few years ago.
I used Resolve to achieve this.
Hope you find a way in PPro.

    Select the clips. Make Offline.
Then Link Media to the new Quicktimes.

If your new Quicktimes have a different audio configuration than the original media, you might have an issue…but other than that, its pretty simple.

Thanks, it was the “Make offline” clue that worked…
