  • How to structure FCPX Libraries – Projects – Events – Folders?

I am a relatively new user of FCPX. I am having some difficulty understanding the media structure for projects, events, folders, etc. Allow me to explain what I have and what I would like to do. I recently completed a film project in in Guatemala. I have approximately 50 clips of aerial footage, and 50 clips for B-roll or on-foot. Segments from all of those 100 clips will be in the same timeline. But I don’t want all those clips imported/mixed together. So do I create a Guatemala project with an event for Aerial and another event for B-roll?

Your post was correct. You create a library for your project. Then you create events for Ariel footage, b-roll, whatever else. You can then use keywords to create other virtual folders via metadata. So if you have arial footage and b-roll of the same thing, they will end up in the same virtual folder without compromising how you organised the actual imported footage.

Hope that makes sense. Just got up and haven’t had that morning coffee yet
