  • How to stop video “buzzing” on moving still photos??

Posted by Bill Thomas on March 5, 2009 at 12:31 am

    Hi all,

After creating cool moving dropzones in Motion, I put in a few still photos and rendered in FCP. Yikes! Half the photos “buzz” like crazy! Some had fine lines, but the worst was a photo of a tree.

Usually in FCP I could give the photo a 90 degree, 1 pixel motion blur. But that didn’t help here. I also tried deinterlace, saving as JPG. PNG, etc. Nothing helped.

    Any ideas??

    Thanks in advance,

    Bill

Have you tried using the flicker filter yet? Give that a go.

I used the flicker filter in FCP (since I bring my Motion project in as a template) and it just made it real blurry.

Ultimately, I used a 1% gaussian blur in Photoshop and that seemed to help the most.

    Thanks…

    Jonathan,

Where is the Flicker FIlter in Motion? I cannot find it.

    Thanks.

If the “buzzing” came after it was sent back to FCP from Motion, go back into Motion and make sure your project settings are set to View > Full, Render Quality “Best”. You may be in “Draft” quality.

Also, in FCP, set your Sequence Settings Render Motion to “Best”.
