how to stich MPEG with ac3 audio
Hi, first post here after experiencing numerous difficulties with newly purchased VMS ver 9.0b..
I did not know what I was getting into when I purchased my sony HDR-SR11 camcorder 🙂
I realize that rendering HD or Bluray output is impossible with Vegas based on what I can read here and my multiple tries and PC crashes. So I downgraded the output project to 720X490 DVD. Even with this format, I had issues rendering a 30 minute video so I followed the instructions on the Sony FAQ and created 3 projects…now I need to stitch or merge these MEPG with associated AC3 audio files into one file but cannot figure out how to do this in Vegas or DVD architect. your help appreciated.

I have the latest Sony software Vegas movie studio platinum pro pack 9.0b, dvd Arch 4.5 HP pavilion Pentium (r) D CPU 2.8 Mhx, 2 g ram, running XP media center 2002 SP3.thanks

To create an SD-DVD, just export your timeline in Vegas as two independent files: MPEG2 (without audio) and AC3. Give both files exact the same name (the extension will be different) ans save them inthe same folder.
When you import the MPEG2 file into DVD Architect Studio, the AC3 file will be imported automatically.
Please note that a standard DVD is 720×480 pixels for NTSC and 720×576 pixels for PALTheo

You should be able to drop the 3 files into DVD Architect and have the end action of 1 go to #2 and #2 to #3.
However, if this was originally supposed to be one continuous file, there will be a slight gap at each change.
Did you try rendering it out in DV-AVI format and giving that to DVD Architect to convert for you? -
thanks..the objective is to have a continuos file with no break in image or music. I have merge 6 files (3 mpeg and 3 ac3) with VOBmerge freeware and will see how it turn out once I finish burning dvd.
As for the rendering it in DV-AVI format and giving that to DVD Architect to convert ….I did not try this as I had assumed I would loose video quality…
What are the advantages of having dvd arch reconvert-re-render …does DVD arch up-render, meaning can it output in high quality video (HD) from lower formats?

You’re using Movie Studio so I don’t think you have the option to do a custom bitrate setting when you’re doing an MPEG-2 encode out of Vegas.
A lot of users prefer to customize the bitrate but there’s nothing wrong with giving DAD Architect an AVI file and letting it do it for you. The quality loss will be minimal.
DVD Architect only authors what it’s been give so no, it can’t make an HD DVD out of SD material. Only Vegas can do that.
HD/Blu-ray output is possible as a number of users here are doing it on a daily basis.
I suggest that you start a new thread and outline what you’ve tried so far.
Please include things like your computer’s OS, amount of RAM, CPU info, # of hard drives and any other pertinent information.
