How to start a 16:9 production?
I am a newby to this forum.
I have a sony DCR-TVR345E camera which uses D8 tapes. I bought this camera because I can use it to also digitize my old Hi8 tapes and put them on DVD.
My camera does not have an option for 16:9 filming.
Does this mean I can not produce 16:9 movies? OR do you just cut off the top and bottom to turn a 4:3 video into a 16:9 version?

If you start a 16×9 Premiere project and import your 4×3 footage, on the timeline you will be able to fit to the wider frame by accepting black side bars or zooming-to-fit (with some cropping and loss of quality) as you wish. In the latter case, you can use motion with keyframes to adjust the relative amounts of top and bottom cropped area to minimise loss of important elements.
