  • How to speed up rendering times? (Mac)

Everyday I render to an FLV file and it can take up to 6 hours. The project has no effects, but they can be anywhere from 25 to 35 minutes at 1280 x 720. Content is Screen Capture videos.

Everything is exported through Adobe Media Encoder at 1.0 mbps.

I have a MacPro 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon with 14 GB Ram. Computer says it’s only using 25% of total CPU while rendering.

So what is the underlining factor when it comes to rendering speed?

Are you by any chance using the “Reduce Noise” filter as part of the output settings? That’s a render-killer.

Mark – it is generally impolite to imply on a forum like this that the moderators or other visitors are somehow not helpful to you. That subject line is what I would call “snarky.”

We are all doing this on a volunteer basis for the benefit of our colleagues out in the world. Inevitably, people are busy doing their jobs and/or perhaps unable to point you in the right direction because we don’t have all the facts about a problem.

I have exactly the same set up with exactly the same sloooooow render times. How did you solve your problem?

    Hi Dan,

That was a long time ago and I just recently sold my MacPro. I switched to the Macbook Pro with the retina display. This thing is heaps faster then the MacPro. If you can sell your MacPro and gather together some extra funds for MacBook Retina you will see a massive speed increase.
