How to smooth out vectorizor?
I notice that even with the starkest black and white and the clearest image, the vectorizer always makes a squiggly path. I set the tolerance down to 0 and it’s still very jagged–this is something I’ve noticed in general, not with one particular vector image. Are there any tips for getting a completely smooth outline from the vectorizer?

I think the problem is that since pixel-based images by their very nature do not have completely smooth transitions between contrasting elements, the Vectorizer will never be able to produce completely smooth paths from them. You can get better results from larger images, and try different “Intermediate Points” and “Angle” settings, but it’s never going to be as good as using extruded vector files. Decreasing the tolerance value actually increases the jaggies by increasing the detail. While increasing tolerance does smooth the paths it will never be able to turn a jagged circle into a smooth one for example, like the paths from a vector would be.

Are you exporting images out of Illustrator?

@Justin No, aftereffects. I realize from reading these responses that it was caused by pixel images and will try exporting a vector from illustrator. Makes perfect sense. Thanks, all!
