  • How to slow footage before a time remapping keyframe

So heres the thing. I’m so used to the time remapping tools of FCP, and they were so easy to use. I’m finding the ones in premiere to be a real pain.

For the life of me, I cant seem to work out how to slow down footage before a keyframe without having the keyframes all move out of place on the timeline due to the clip extending.

Is there a way to do this?

Cut the clip on the first keyframe and use Speed instead of Timeremapping on the first part.
    See if that will help.

Yes this would work fine if I was after an instantaneous speed change, but I was hoping to utilise the speed handles to allow for a controlled speed change.

There has got to be a way of doing this. I dont understand how people aernt coming across this problem all the time?

You set a frame of the clip you want at the exact moment you want on the timeline, and then you desire to adjust speed of the clip on either side of that frame without moving the frame from that position. You can obviously do this to the right of the frame as it pushes the clip longer that way. But there must be a way to do this to the left of that frame with it extending the clips length backwards towards the start of the timeline. Its mental if it can’t do this simple thing.
