i am shoting a TV program that is to also be shown on HD broadcast in the USA. Since Nigeria is on the PAL system and due to budget issues the best we can do is work with HDV shooting on a Sony HVR-V1E/Z1E. How best can i shot and edit so that the show can be deploy on PAL/NTSC as well as their HD cousins?

I’ve never done this but I can give you some info. Unlike SD in NTSC and PAL, HDV has the same resolution for both (1920×1080). The only difference is the frame rate (50i PAL vs 60i NTSC). So you should be able to edit the whole show as PAL HDV (1920×1080-50i) and then just render to NTSC HDV and Vegas will add the additional frames needed to bring it up to 60i. Like I said, I’ve never tried this so there may be a few “gotchas” but it seems to be very straight forward.

    May one use 24p in NTSC HD? If so, 50i – 25p – 24p?
