  • How to set up sequence and capture for GL2 30p frame mode?

    Hi.

I have PPro 1.0 and a cannon GL2. I want to eventally get used to shoorting stuff in 30p frame mode when I know its destined for the web. So I wanted to try capturing some footage shot in the GL2 Frame mode.

I set up a Video for Windows project, 30 fps, no field first/progressive, 30fps timecode. And then captured manually after starting playing the tape, declaring the DV device to the a GL2.

First is all of the above correct?

Second, once I finish editing, do I have to export out an uncompressed AVI or can I use DebugMode Frameserver to pass the contents of the timeline to Windows Media Encoder to make a WMV?

Personally I would edit in the original mode the tape was recorded in, then export to DV-AVI and use Windows Media Encoder (free from Microsoft) as it will give you better image quality and a lot more options to tweak your compressed video.

The idiots at Adobe didn’t have enought foresight to include a 30p preset so this question gets asked all the time and we’re forced tro spend time trying to figure out what to do!!!

You have to tweak and create your own and so there’s a margin of error there. As we’re moving right now to LCD, Plasma and DLP TV’s there’s no excuse not to have included a 30p template.
