  • How to select layer that is under another in composition window?

Posted by Den Naiden on October 16, 2015 at 10:13 am

Did you ever notice, that when you’re working with ton of layers in one comp, its became so complicated to select/find each layer that u want to, because it is located under another ton of layers in composition window…so, the only one chance to select that layer is to go in the layers list and search for that.

Question: is there any shortcut or way to select layer in composition window by clicking, instead of going to search for it in layers list?

While wondering about this, I discovered that you can select a layer by typing its number in the numeric pad.

You can also lock the layer that gets selected first, then you can select the one behind it.

You can also hit CTRL + Up Arrow or Down Arrow to select the next layer above or below. If you hold Shift + Control + Up (or Down arrow) you can select multiple layers.

Not a direct path to layer 87 but might help.
