How To Search For Jobs
I’ve been editing away for years in Birmingham Alabama when my wife finally received her PH.D and needs to go out in the big world. Now I’ve got to look for work in city compatible with her.
What are the resources available to me such as “mandy.com” and “tvjobs.com”?
Is there a headhunter for video/film editors?Thanks!

In major cities, editors actually have agents to keep them going from job to job… In those areas, I would do a search for all facilities and production companies and get in touch with them.

The problem with applying to jobs that are posted to website or message boards, is that everyone and their grand mothers dog will apply for it… I believe the average posting for a decent Avid editor job gets hundreds of applications. So, you really have to find a way to set yourself apart from the pack.
Networking is by far the best way to find a new job, in my opinion. People are always more comfortable hiring someone who is known by a friend or co worker.
As far as finding a headhunter, I’ve tried searching for one, and haven’t had much luck. Let me know if you find one, because I’m always interested in new opportunities.
