  • How to Seamlessly Cover Extruded Spline with Square Pattern in C4D?

Posted by Parviz Bayramguliyev on November 3, 2024 at 10:39 pm

I’ve imported a spline from Adobe Illustrator and extruded it in Cinema 4D. Now, I’m trying to apply a technological square pattern (like in the attached photo) to cover the entire shape seamlessly, not just the upper side. However, I’m only able to cover the top, while the sides remain uncovered.

I’ve tried using the Cloner in Object mode, but it seems to distribute the pattern randomly. What I need is for the square pattern to wrap around all sides of the extruded spline in a uniform, seamless way. Any advice on how to achieve this?

While waiting for approval on this post, I made some progress. However, it’s still not the final result. https://www.reddit.com/r/Cinema4D/comments/1giny6d/comment/lv6ku58 (IT IS NOT SP*M). I need your advices. Thank you!

    Hi Parviz,

It seems that the problem is related to the topology and UV mapping, I saw in the link the steps that you did so it improved a lot with you. I think you still have to make the extruded Spline editable because the Cloner in Object mode works better with polygons then apply the Remesh to get a clean squad mesh that guarantees you the regular distribution of squares.

I hope this is useful to you.
