how to rotobrush small thin objects (like eyelashes)
does anyone know how i can rotobrush small thin parts of a comp, like a hair or a chain link fence, or other such objects

If you don’t have a chroma backdrop then Luma Mattes are ideal for such things issues. Of course a lot depends on the image that you have.

Unfortunately, I am not really too familiar with mattes in general. Do you have any tutorials you would recommend to get me more knowledgeable with the subject, possibly including luma mattes?

An issue to bear in mind is that, depending on the size of the element in the shot, it may be smaller than a pixel, in which case I don’t think that any paintbrush would work.
You might try taking a still frame from your project and bringing it in to Photoshop, then zooming way in to pixel level. That will tell you if it’s possible purely from a pixel standpoint. I don’t believe that the paint tool works at subpixel level, but I may be wrong.

Subpixel? Intriguing. I can see how an object might have antialiased edges that may make an object appear to be thin, but i’ve not heard of something smaller than a pixel.
