  • How to replace lo-fi WAVes with multitrack AIFFs with the same names?

    Dear all,

I think my problem isn’t really complicated for professionals. The film was shot on 16mm hence the sound was reorded separately. After telecine, all the footages were synchronized with Waves (merged multitrack) in FCP and the film was edited. Now the problem is to replace those WAV files with original multitrack AIFFs. Of course they have the same names. Is it possible to do this automatically, is there such option? I mean, especially in terms of synchronization – as far as I know both WAVes and AIFFs have timecode embedded.

    Any hints will be appreciated

    Thanks in advance

    Pawel,

You can toss the Wav files and put the aiff files in the browser. Then tell FCP to re-connect and replace the originals with the aiff’s. There are buttons to check regarding the names of files to use, and since the new files have a different extension you have to check them.

Have as good a day as you can.

    Thanks a lot.
Yet I have one more question as I’m not experienced user – can I batch the process of replacing files (I presume that I should just select all audio clips and choose “reconect”) or I have to open the reconection window in case of every clip?

    Thanks in advance

    Pawel
