  • How to render an already widescreen video in Widescreen format

Posted by Jesper Kraght on October 31, 2008 at 6:03 pm

Hi. I have a problem when I render my video in Vegas. That video I want to rend is already in Widescreen format, but when I have rendered it and I try to Watch it, it don’t fill the whole screen. There is a black “border” arround the video. I have tried to change the settings for the video, but it doesn’t change anything.

How do I render a already widescreen video in widescreen format so the result video will fill the whole screen?

I have filmed the video with a Sony Handycam Full HD 1080p.

    Please answer quickly, Thanks!

Set your project to widescreen using one of the widescreen templates. Then add your widescreen media. Finally render using one of the widescreen templates. The key is to keep everything widescreen from project settings through render settings.

To view the video on the Vegas timeline without a black “letter box”
make sure that you set the project properties to match your footage.

    File>properties>template>HD 1080-24P

To render a new file select the file type and template in the render dialog box. Go to file>render as…

    Hope this helps.

Define “looks like hell“. Do you still have black bars? Because that’s the initial problem we were trying to solve. Is the original footage 24p? Because if it’s not, you probably want to render to the same frame rate as the footage. What are you playing it on? Your computer? An HD-TV? The more information you can provide, the better we can help.
