how to reload just one video
hello everyone
i’d like to know if it’s possible to reload just one video / image / sound, whatever. Just one.
i’m on a project with gigas of videos and sounds, a lot of differents files. at the beginning, my vegas closed all the documents when i switched off with an other program and reopened them when i came back. the problem is that vegas took a very long time to read everything. it was boring. so i uncheck “options” > “preferences…” > “general” tab > “close media files when not the active application”
now when i need to replace a file, i replace it in his folder, the check that option, swap with another program, go back to vegas and uncheck that option. and wait a bit :(.so what’s the official way to reload just one/a couple of file(s) in vegas?

Is it an option for you to work with nested vegfiles?

heuuwww… what is a “nested” file? sorry i’m not a native english speaker.

From your story it looks to me that your project is to big (to many files) and that your hardware can not handle this anymore. In that case you can split your project in several sub projects. At the end you create a new master project and drag all the different sub veg files to the time line. This is a nested project. Next you can render from the master project.
Do you still want to change something somewhere? No problem, just open the specific sub project, make your changes and the master project will be updated automaticly…

that’s an option.. it maybe be a bit more complicated but it can work.
actually, what i was looking for was the posibility, as in premiere, to do a right click on a file and do “reload”.i’ll start on this, the nested way

Ofcourse that is also possible in Vegas….
Right-click, not on the event on the timeline, but on the event in the PROJECT MEDIA TAB. Select REPLACE from the pulldown menu and Vegas will let you choose the file that should come in place of the selected event.
The timeline will be automaticly updated.Theo
