  • How to reconnect clips to new codec in new timeline format?

Posted by Brad Hebert on September 6, 2014 at 8:45 pm

I edited a video using a variety of video codecs (mainly h.264), just to see how Premiere would perform on my new computer. Now, I would like to transcode those videos to a format more edit-friendly for Premiere, and then reconnect the edited clips in my project to the new files in a timeline with the most efficient settings. Can you help me out?

You can batch transcode all your footage using software like MPEG Streamclip. Then simply move your h264 files into another folder, and move the transcoded clips into the folder that previously held the h264s. You may have to relink one when you first open the project, but it should then automatically reconnect the rest.
