  • How to read AuxTC/LTC in Final Cut

    Hey Everyone,

I am currently working on a mutli-cam TV show where we are using a Protools rig to do our audio playback on set. We currently have the Protools rig sending out LTC to our 3rd channel audio track. Is there a way in Final Cut Directly to read LTC or a free application, all I have been able to find that reads LTC is the tool from VideoTool Shed, I just want to make sure I’m not missing anything.

    Thanks.

Has to be a 3rd party app ’cause the only way I know how to get TC is FireWire, RS-422 or straight from Log and Transfer.

See the problem, I have is we are shooting this season tapeless, onto p2 cards, and in FCPs log and transfer window, I can’t find anyway to read the TC on an audio track.

In fact even while importing from tape I can’t figure out if there is away to add the LTC to an AUX TC track.

    Look at this:

    http://www.videoToolShed.com

    Mac OX 10.5.2-FC 6.02-QT 7.4.1
    G5 2x2Gh 4GbRAM-BlackMagic Extreme
    PMBP 17″Core2Duo 4GbRAM-AJA ioHD
    JVC DTV-17″
    SONY EX-1 . SONY PD170
..and always a big mess on top of the table.

I believe Avid Media Composer has the ability to do this, but I’m not sure how that would help you. You could probably get the timecode tracks setup in Avid and then export the bins to FCP with Sebesky or something.

I think I am going to have to ask for the budget to buy the auxTC program from videotoolshed, thats to everyone who has responded. I really just wanted to make sure there was not other solution that there that would be free for cheaper.

    Thank you.
