How to re-render sections of a video without re-encoding. Avermedia Live Gamer HD
I record gaming footage with an Avermedia Live Gamer HD capture card and sometimes I capture several hours of footage at a time. I need a way to cut up those long sessions into smaller pieces/files without re-encoding the footage and without any quality loss.
My old capture card, the BlackMagic Intensity Pro, had it’s own codec that I could use to render within Sony Vegas and split up the files without re-encoding. It was a very simple process to just load each .avi file in Vegas and split up my gaming sessions into smaller sections without any quality loss.
So I’m wondering if there is a way to do the same thing with my new capture card that would allow me to quickly split up my gaming sessions into smaller parts so that I can save only what is necessary. I need to figure something out soon as I have nearly 10TB of raw gaming footage that I need to sort through and I will probably only end up using 2TB of the footage so being able to split these files up is really essential as I’m running out of HDD space.
I don’t think that Avermedia has it’s own codec like the BlackMagic card did but I could be mistaken. The capture card saves the footage as an .mp4 file and I’m recording 1080p footage @ 30FPS.
Any suggestions I could try as far as splitting the big files up would be greatly appreciated.
