    Hello all!
I have come across a wish, and perhaps this is a possibility already.
When I place sequences on the video track I do from time to time loose the perspective of the whole. Adding a new sequence might mean that it is already on the time line. Secondly I have several times been able to add the different sequences so that one or more clips are on top of each other and it’s difficult to remove one over the other. I then slide it down the timeline making matters worse.
Is there a way to tell the Sony Vegas pro 16 that I’m only wanting to place one clip after the other on one timeline?
I’m sure this is trivial but I cannot find the answer myself.

Hi Jesper – No not trivial at all! – If I understand you wish to SHUFFLE EVENTS:

    You have e.g. :
    A>B>C>D

    You wish to shuffle:
    A>C>B>D

    Is this correct?

    Hi Jesper,

I’m not sure what you are referencing as ‘sequences’. However if you go Options > Ripple > Auto Ripple, or use the keyboard shortcut ‘Ctrl+L’, when you place a clip onto a track in the timeline, it will automatically push anything out of the way of the clip you are adding. If you delete an event from a track, auto-ripple will automatically close the empty space caused by the deletion.

However, caution using Auto-Ripple, as it can produce strange behavior when you have multiple tracks. If this occurs, ‘Ctrl+Z’ becomes your friend to ‘Undo’ your steps.

If you are not familiar with Auto-Ripple, I would suggest trying it with a test project before using it with any important project you are currently working on.

I also used incremental project saves, such as ‘Test Project-01’, then I make some major changes, I will save as to ‘Test Project-02’, after making other changes, I will save as to ‘Test Project-03’, and so on. This way I can roll back to a previous save as if I get things all messed up.

    Best Regards……George

If I understand you correctly, maybe use the “details view” of project properties, you can then see the usage count of each piece of media. Your preference is that it should be only 1. If its more than 1 for any clip then you can select it in project properties and display the timeline events, then remove accordingly.
