Hello, I have a problem with pathfinder cropping. I have a bunch of diagonal blue lines and I drew a transparent square on top of that. When I hit crop, I loose all the lines, and only the transparent square remains. I also tried a white filled square, but then a white square remains. However I want to crop the lines to a square shape, so that I can make a seamless pattern. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks a lot for all help!

Vector lines won’t crop like that, you’ll have to make them filled objects.

Highlight all the lines (but not the transparent square on top) and choose object > expand. The lines are now filled objects and can be cropped in pathfinder. Using the method you described.
