  • How to paste layer after/under the last and not the first?

Posted by Eri Kossus on April 12, 2009 at 10:58 pm

I am creating a slideshow with many stills. I need to tweak each still in different comp first and copy-paste it into the final comp. By default item is pasted as a top layer. I need to be able to paste it as the bottom layer. With so many layers in a comp I can not scroll up and grab the layer and drag it to the bottom. This drives me crasy!
This is so basic that there must be a way to do this, but all the search has not given the answer.
The order I select my copy layers does not help because I have just one layer to copy.
    Please help!

You can do it in two steps: Paste, and then move the layer to the bottom of the stacking order.

Here’s the shortcut for the second step from “Change the stacking order for selected layers” in After Effects Help:
“To move the selected layers to the top of the layer stacking order, press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Up Arrow (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift+Up Arrow (Mac OS); to move the selected layers to the bottom, press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Down Arrow (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift+Down Arrow (Mac OS).”
