How to overlay video on a moving target?
I’d like to overlay a video on top of another video of a cell phone, so that it looks like the video is actually playing on the cell phone. The problem is that the person holding the cell phone is moving his hand quite a bit, so I have to make adjustments using the distort tool on almost every frame. Is there some easier way to do this? I’d like to stay in FCP if possible because I know it best, but I also own Motion and AE. This is probably a fairly common problem, so there’s probably a tutorial somewhere, but I just couldn’t find one.

If you don’t want to spend money, Apple Motion has the tracking tool you need to make this work. Really, Motion in this context is very simple to use. Stephen Smith’s tutorial DVD gives a great example.

Thanks guys, for the quick replies. I’ll check them out.
To make life easier, I was thinking of even just doing a freeze frame of the hand holding the phone, while the video is playing. But if it’s fairly easy to do it with Motion or Mocha, then I’ll give it a try.

This is the kind of work that mocha excels at. If you own After Effects, than you already have mocha AE. It ships with AE CS4-CS6.
