  • How to output 16×9 but NOT HiDef?

Posted by Bill Thomas on March 18, 2008 at 7:41 pm

I have a client who asked if we can output an HD program to widescreen, non-HD format (much like a rented DVD movie).

I notice that Aja control panel has option for 525 and 720 output, but I connect to a set-top DVD burner and it will only see the 525 signal.

Is there a way to output a non-HD widescreen signal to my set-top DVD burner?

(FYI, until Blu-ray comes around with FCP, I am making my HD DVDs in DVDSP and playing them back on a Toshiba HD-DVD player.)

    Thanks all,

    Bill

Both 4:3 and 16:9 has 720×480 pixel (525), they are just a different shape (.9 vs 1.2). In the control panel set Formats > Down > to anamorphic. You also need to set the DVD recorder to widescreen and you should be good to go.
