  • How to mount a DSLR on a video tripod??

Okkay, a few weeks ago I ran into a situation. A friend has a D-80 Canon and I told him not to bring his tripod,
because I had a pretty good $1200 tripod. The Miller Solo.

Well, embarrassed me, the expert, because I could not get the video alignment pin off the tripod plate,
so it really did not work. Luckily I could get around half a turn and a slight angle … and okay.

So, what do I not know about making this work?
Is there some cheeseplate I need?
    Do I need a hacksaw?

    Please advise.
