Activity Forums Maxon Cinema 4D how to model a Human filled with plants

I don’t really know probably but – the last image is plants on a surface rather than in a volume. That kind of thing is easier, with a number of tutorials for planting objects and some plugins for painting objects on a surface (or MoGraph set up the right way). If you are looking for that look, check out tutorials on ground cover (even grass tutorials would be a start). Details like lips, eyes and ears might be only possible via careful placement by hand though. It all depends if you want that last image’s ‘fuzzy’ look though. Or do you want a smoother surface?

To keep the eyes lips and ears from disappearing among the foliage, we always keep these as separate models (but tied to the same rig). This also helps with poly counts – these areas usually have higher poly concentrations but when you do the surface mapping with mograph or particles the mapping is often based on the source object poly count so it can be tough to get the kind of distribution you want when the body has one kind of poly concentration and the lips have a higher one.

    yes Steve Bentley,

Thank you for you valuable suggestion and comment.

You are right. I am facing same problem now.

The biggest tragedy is client is not final on the character, they said character will change, may be it will be replaced by objects like guitar or statue instead of humans. lets see where it goes. anyway.

it looks like some of the stuff here https://graphics.uni-konstanz.de/~luft/ivy_generator/ – that is really old and won’t work with anything past R15 likely, there is a newer version linked off of C4DCafe but the link is broken (or was when I tried it).
Particles moving on a surface would give the result, either TP or XParticles (much easier) could probably do that.

    Hi Brian,

Sorry for late reply. I tried ivy grower in c4d and also tried ivy generator in blender. But I did not end up with good results. I am sorry to say but it did not work for me. well I know this the the c4d forum but just a thought. Is it possible in zbrush?
