  • How to merge audio and video

So, the subject doesn’t quite fit what I’m trying to do, but hopefully this will be a simple “yes Vegas can do this” or “no it can’t” question:

I’m trying to find out whether or not Vegas has the capability to create subclips from separate audio/video files WITHOUT having to render them (somewhat like reference files).

In other words: say I’ve captured a video source (no audio) and a separate audio source I want to sync with my video, so that the synced audio/video events behave like one clip.

I know Avid has this functionality, but I can’t seem to find anything definitive for Vegas.

Am I missing something obvious, or will I be forced to render each audio/video pair out?

    Thanks.

    Yes, Vegas can do this.

Oh, you also want to know how to do it?
    🙂

Sync the clips up, select one of them, shift+click the other and press G to Group them together.
If this is being used in the existing project, then you’re done.
If this is to be used in one or more future projects, then render the clip in the appropriate format or save it as a veg file that can be imported (i.e. nested) into a future project.
