    Hey Guys,

I recently upgraded from the G4 Powerbook that I had been running FCP HD on to a G5 Power Mac. I am wondering what specific steps I need to take in FCP to optimize it’s performance with this new higher powered machine. In the System Settings under Memory and Cache I have both sliders all the way to the right at
100%. For playback I have my RT at Safe and my playback quality set at high. Are there other things that I need to consider? I ask this because as I was rendering out some filtered footage it seemed to be rendering quite slowly, almost the same speed as my old G4. I didn’t have any other programs open and am pretty confused. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi,

At least 2.5 gigs of RAM is a good place to start.

    Best Wishes,

    Mitch
