How to match these two shots in FCP 7
Hi all,
I’m using Final Cut Pro 7 to edit a show.
There were two cameras at the back next to each other, one mid and one wide (see image below).
They had the same white balance (i thought!) and it looks like one is slightly more exposed.I’ve attempted to use the 3-way without much luck, and the brightness/saturation filter, and the match hue.
I’m finding it quite hard to work out if its the brightness of the same colour, or the white balance is off, or a combination. And what workflow best finds the answer for this and future problems.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Put them on two stacked video tracks, and use the crop tool to create a split-screen. Turn on your scopes display, Then invoke the 3-way CC, and you can see on the scopes when the levels match, both in chroma strength as well as the proper shade until you’re happy. Then copy that clip and apply it’s filter setting to al the other timeline clips using the paste filter settings checkbox.

i would use Colorista 2 for the match.

Wide shot has def more yellow and a little greenish tint and the Cu more red.
I’d push the mids of the wide a little into the reddish area and the highlights a tick as well.
The CU looks to me the more right look.Sascha Engel

I’ve recently become quite a fan of the vectorscope (does FCP have one – it won’t run on my current mac and I can’t remember) for matching color from different cameras. You can use the colorwheel and saturation to make the graphs look similar.
