  • How to make this path stop from updating

    So I made a shape layer with a few groups in it, group 1 a line with trim paths and group 2 is with fixed trim path modified to look like a flash at the end of group 1’s animation, they are all based on the same path.

    My question, how could I make it so that the path for group 2 stops following the nulls when the opacity changes, i’d like for it to remain in the same place it appears and not to follow the plane.

    I tried posterizeTime, but I can’t make it work elegantly because the flash would teleport to the new location when it catches the animation between seconds.

    Something like posterize but based on the layer time and not the comp would be nice. Or a way to sample the position from the null and stop sampling when the group 2 animation would start.

    I’ll leave a clip with how it behaves now and this is the expression I used for the path to connect the nulls.

    p1 = thisComp.layer(“AA fire best”).effect(“plane”)(“Layer”).toComp([0,0]).slice(0,2)

    p2 = thisComp.layer(“AA fire best”).effect(“aa gun”)(“Layer”).toComp([0,0]).slice(0,2)

    ps = [p1, p2]

    in_tangents = []

    out_tangents = []

    createPath(ps, in_tangents, out_tangents, isClosed=false)
