How to Make Text/Pics Appear Pixelated Like Screen Close Up? (Example)
Hi all, I’m new to Creative Cow but not to After Effects. I’m trying to create a particular effect, very similar to this example from We Steal Secrets:

I’m more interested in that pixelated effect than the animation here. Does anyone know of any filters or effects that come close to it? I could be missing something obvious. My only thought so far was to create a sort of grid as an adjustment layer so that all of the layers beneath it look pixelated. I don’t need the pixels to scale with the layer like in the example, it would look more like a screen if the pixels themselves were static. But either way, any tips here?
The second part of the example, where the pixels all animate in for the Clinton headline, is pretty cool too. Aside from masking and animating each individual part, is there a preferred method to do something like that? Thanks so much for any insight! – Matt
