    Hey all,

I’ve got an idea for a short that involves a hatch in the ceiling opening after a few seconds, and a donut on a string falling down in front of my subject – then dangling mid-air afterwards.
I’m not quite sure how to get my desired effect. I’ve tried hair effects with constraints and dynamics, as well as implementing a spring – however it’s not quite giving me the effect I’m looking for, especially since the spring works immediately, and not after a bit of a delay in a video (giving time for the hatch to open and whatnot).

Any advice would be highly appreciated! Thank you

To control when the dynamics start, and thus when the spring begins to affect the donut, keyframe either the “Enabled” setting or the “Dynamic” setting (from “Off” to “On”) of the donut’s dynamic’s tag.

Edit: You could also keyframe the “Enabled” setting of the spring so that the donut starts falling before the spring begins to take affect.
