How to make dvd longer than 120min
Posted by Opd432 on January 5, 2007 at 12:00 amIs it possible to record home movies at longer periods than 120 per disc using adobe encore 1.5? Perhaps using something to lower the quality of the content???
Thanks

January 5, 2007 at 6:58 amYou certainly mean a 4.7 GB disc, I assume? It’s not impossible, but you won’t be able to push the limit that much. 120 mins already means that you are working near the 3 MBit/sec lower limit for the video, so your only liberty would be to decrease the bitrate for the AC3 transcodes. A better solution would simply to split your footage at a suitable position and put it on two separate discs.

Just calculate bitrate and encode with any other MPEG2 Encoder -

January 8, 2007 at 3:40 amHey everyone i found out how to get more min out of a reg dvd, once you have completed your dvd burn it as an image, if it exceeds the 4.7 gb mount the image using the Daemon tools. Using 1click DVD Copy Pro, it automatically selects which compression is needed to fit the movie onto disc, copies menus and all features you select and will burn the disc to dvd.
hope this helps everyone else

Do you hear what is “bitrate”? By understanding what is it you can without your tools put to dvd disk up to 6 hours… 🙂
