how to make an animated “circling”???
Posted by Gilles Gagnon on October 28, 2010 at 9:11 pmI need to make a red circle around a portion of a still photo in a project (to draw attention to). I want to make it look like the red circle/oval is being drawn.
Can anyone tip me on how best to accomplish this?
Thanks,
Gilles

October 28, 2010 at 9:36 pmFrom Vegas 9, this has become very easy in Vegas.
Here is a tutorial how to do it with the Spicemaster plugin:
https://digitalproducer.digitalmedianet.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=16465For Vegas 9 (and 10) you can still follow this tutorial for the photoshop part. But instead of using the spicemaster plugin, you can use the GRADIENT WIPE from the transition tab.

October 28, 2010 at 9:43 pmCopy the photo you want on two tracks. Add the cookie cutter effect, in the circle shape, on the pic in the above track. Set it to “cut away all but section” method and make sure you increase the border to whatever size you want, or else the circle won’t be visible. Fix it to whatever point you want to focus on, then add a clock wipe transition to the above track and that’s it!

Theo, I like that solution as well, looks interesting but I’m not sure how to replace spicemaster with gradient wipe.

October 28, 2010 at 10:05 pmClock Wipe with Chromakey to remove any background from circle, if there is one.
~Just because you can doesn’t mean you should~

I’ve never used chromakey… i’m not sure what you mean. I may just have to play with it.Gilles
