  • how to make AE aware of added RAM?

Hello, I have added 2 gigs of RAM to computer. Windows XP and apps see and use it alright, but AE keeps telling me I have just 2 gigs available (in Memory&cache preferences).

I guess AE uses some sort of detection on first start – how do I tell it to re-assess my RAM?

so you have like 4 gb ram then? AE can go only 3 gb per processor. use -render multiple frames in preferences->multiprocessing simultaneously with 32 bpc, then each proc gets mo ram. mo ram is mo fun.

furthur tweaking can be found here:

Thanks, the thing is, numbers in Memory and Cache preference panel are exactly the same with 4 GB RAM like they were with 2 gigs.. I know that Win 32 cannot address whole 4 gigs, but this is weird… And manually changing percentage (“use 200 per cent of RAM”) is not very stable.
