Im trying to make a flat 2d flag that waves uniformly

I know this is blindingly simple – but having played with displacement maps, distortion, cc-lenses, puppet tools i still can’t figure it out.

    Example : https://vimeo.com/176438915

    Any help much appreciated!

    Thanks.

Just as a side-note, I had trouble pinning down the ‘flag pole’ edge of my wave, but solved it by precomping my flag and aligning the edge that I wanted locked (e.g. pole is on the left) to the left edge of the comp. Then in wave warp, locking the left edge will keep it in place. For added interest, add a second less intense instance of wave warp at a slower and slightly different angle.
