How to make a video with transparent background by a mask?
Hi everyone,
I’m trying to mix two video footages together by a mask. I want this mask to operate as an external alpha channel. I hope these pictures help:
1) Two video footages going to be mixed:
2) The mask:
3) Applying the mask to one of video footages and retrieving the transparent video:
4) Final result:
Is this possible? And if it is, how?

Yes it is. I have this fully explained in Vol 2 #5 of my newsletters. In short:
Track 1: Mask – track compositing mode set to “Multiply (Mask)” Also add the “Sony Mask Generator” effect to the track
Track 2: Video to show in the White area. Make this track a CHILD to track 1
Track 3: Video to show in the Black area.

Now the last question. If video in track 2 contains black pixels, “Sony Mask Generator” does not remove them after “Multiply (Mask)” composite. How is this possible?

Does this work in Vegas Movie Studio?
It seems the controls in your tutorial are different from what I’m seeing
