  • how to make a “torn burst paper” animation?

Without using 3d…I need to make an animation of a ball hurtling into the screen(the ball’s not the problem), and bursting through the image as though it was a bit of paper under high tension. Anyone have any ideas on how to go about this? the kind of rip, someting along the lines of this image, but obviously this part would be facing away from the camera since the ball is ripping the paper outwards…

(doesn’t have to look this good, after all it is a transition of a few frames, just to give you an idea of the type of tear, not just a straight rip…). I want it to be a bit more spectacular and expolsive than just a simple rip,
but i really have no idea how to animate this from scratch!! It can be a little stylised and cartoony, it is just for an add, at the end a ball is kicked into each product and it rips off to reveal the product below. I´m mainly an after effects user, also have motion and shake….

    help?

    Thanks! Anna
