how to load xdcam with new mb pro
Hi
Material shot with a sony 530 xdcam i import (with fcp) with a firewire 400 cable.
I’v been taught always to load my scratch material to an external firewire 800 lacie hd. With the new Macbook pro i’m a hole short.
Does anyone no a solution. -

The Lacie will have more than 1 firewire port, so that you can daisy chain your XDCAM camera or deck through that eg MBP <> Lacie <> XDCAM
You can use Sony’s XDCAM Transfer to log and transfer the footage from your camera in File Access Mode (FAM) then unmount and disconnect the camera … and edit.Best

I recomend getting an esata express card and conecting your media drives via esata. Besides keeping your camera/deck on a compleatly seperate bus on the computer from your media drives, esata is much faster then FireWire.

IN following Zanes post. the MBP’s single firewire buss is not a big fan of the daisy chain scenario where a camera is concerned. I use the Express 34 slot with a sonnet sata card and a external sata and get great results.
