    Hi guys.

Brand new to the forum and in Illustrator. I have gotten the hang of pen tool and shapes, but strugle on how to join two shapes that from inside an object tro outside. In the attached images I have marked with red the desired connection and the error mesage I keep getting. I have tried rearranging the groups and layers, but nothing helps. Anyone?

Also in the third image… how do I tell Illustrator that part is going behind another part in a shape? I tried showing in the image with red the part that I want to be in front of the part going behind.

Thankful for any help. Please give me your help/instructions like talking to a Illustrator dummy 🙂
