How To Invert Colour Of Text To Background Colour Through A Shape?
I have a piece of text in my animation, and I want to be able to move shapes across the composition, the same colour as the text and have the text invert through the shape as the background colour so it is still visible (I have a white background, blue text & a blue rectangle to move over the text – trying to get the text to go white as the shape moves across.) I have already tried changing the shape mode but the text just comes out green or black instead.
Any suggestions??

Duplicate your text and apply an invert effect to it and place it on top of the layer stack. Duplicate your shape, place it above the inverted text, change the track matte of the text to “alpha matte”.
You may want to precomp your text first, so that if you change the text, you only have to do it once, rather than twice for each layer.
